Questions & Answers
Got questions? We've got answers! Here you'll find everything you need to know about booking, shows, and making your event magical.
Close-up magic happens inches from your guests' eyes — sometimes literally in their own hands. Instead of watching a stage from across a room, guests gather in small groups of 5–10 while Jose performs with cards, coins, rings, and borrowed objects right in front of them.
It's intimate, conversational, and impossible to fake — there are no camera tricks, no stooges, just real magic at arm's length.
Close-up magic is the perfect fit for events where guests are mingling, eating, or arriving in waves:
It's especially useful as an icebreaker — guests who didn't know each other end up sharing reactions and laughing together within minutes.
The right package depends on how long guests are around and how many of them you have:
Not sure? Tell us the guest count and event timeline — we'll recommend the right fit.
Jose performs strolling magic: he moves through the room and approaches small groups of guests, performs a 5–8 minute set, then moves on to the next group. Over the course of an hour, he typically reaches 4–6 different groups.
If you'd prefer a fixed spot (a magic "station" guests come to), that also works — just let us know in advance.
As a rough guide:
For larger events, we can book a Bundle (two performers or two sessions) so every guest still gets a personal close-up experience.
The repertoire is built around cards, coins, finger rings, and borrowed personal objects — signed bills that vanish and reappear, rings that link in front of you, mind-reading moments that feel impossible.
Everything is designed to look great inches away, with no camera tricks and no need for staging. Guests can stand right next to Jose's hands and still be fooled.
Never. Close-up magic is conversational, not theatrical — there's no stage, no spotlight, and no "volunteer from the audience" in front of a crowd. Guests participate by holding a card, picking a coin, or thinking of a number, all while standing comfortably with their group.
Shy guests can simply watch, and the magic still lands.
Close-up is primarily designed for adults and teens — it works beautifully at weddings, corporate events, and grown-up celebrations.
For events that are mostly kids (a birthday party with mainly children under 12), our Birthday Party packages are a better fit — they're built around children's energy and attention.
No — that's one of the best things about close-up magic. Jose doesn't need a stage, lights, sound system, or even a dedicated performance area. He just walks up to a group of guests and the magic begins.
All you need to provide is the venue itself — Jose brings everything else in a small case.
Yes — close-up magic thrives in lively environments. Because Jose performs within arm's reach and to small groups at a time, background music, conversation, and ambient noise don't get in the way.
In fact, it's often the easiest way to break the ice and give your event an unforgettable buzz without competing with the rest of the entertainment.
Absolutely. For corporate events, trade shows, and brand activations, Jose can weave your product, message, or company name into specific routines — a card reveal that becomes your logo, a prediction that ties into the launch, a signed bill that turns into your packaging.
Just share the brief at least a week in advance and we'll put together a custom plan.
The show is performed primarily in English. Jose's style is highly visual, so guests whose first language is Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish follow along easily — the punch lines are in the magic itself, not the patter.
If your event audience speaks mainly Cantonese or Mandarin, let us know in advance and Jose will adapt his rhythm and verbal cues accordingly.
